Reader recommendation: Balkan Trails’ tours of Bulgaria, Romania

We recently returned from an amazing three weeks in “undiscovered” (by Americans) Bulgaria and Romania. We used small-tour company Balkan Trails, which designs affordable private and customized tours with expert driver guides who speak impeccable English. This company takes pride in showcasing the beauty, charm and culture of two incredibly historic countries. We saw stunning sights, experienced no tourist crowds and enjoyed a comprehensive itinerary with excellent accommodations, including some home-stays. Owners Vlad and Zoe Trestian are knowledgeable and easy to work with. We felt pampered, secure and well taken care of.
