Gear: EC Lync is a workhorse hybrid of backpack and wheeled bag

Share

A wheeled bag is portable and can carry a lot; a backpack keeps your hands free. A combination of both: the new EC Lync System luggage.

The wheeled upright bags, available in four sizes, have collapsible, removable frames. The frames, which incorporate the wheels and retractable handle, can be stashed inside the bag or another piece of luggage for transport — or left behind.

The carry-on 20- and 22-inch bags, and larger 26-inch model, come with adjustable, removable back straps. The 29-inch bag has a removable duffel strap. All the bags have multiple grab handles and exterior pockets, compression straps and lockable double zippers.

Each comes with a big stuff sack (for stashing the whole bag or just the frame) with a drawstring closure and bottom grab handle. The bags can be collapsed nearly flat, with or without the frame, for storage.

Colors include bright blue, flame orange or graphite. EC Lync System 20-inch bag costs $254.95; 22-inch, $259.95; 26-inch, $279.95; and 29-inch, $299.95.
