Las Vegas: New Pizza Rock restaurant is almost ready to roll
- Share via
One of the world’s most celebrated pizza makers will bring his talents to Las Vegas with the September opening of Pizza Rock.
Pizza Rock, 201 N. 3rd St. in Las Vegas’ Downtown3rd neighborhood, won’t be just another pizza parlor. It’s headed by Tony Gemignani, an 11-time World Pizza Champion who has several times defeated Italians on their home turf.
Italian and American-style pizzas will be served. They include the Napoletana-style Margherita, a crust topped with tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, olive oil and sea salt that won the World Pizza Cup in Naples, and the Cal Italia, a pie featuring various cheeses, prosciutto and fig preserves. It earned the Gold Medal on Food Network’s Pizza Champions Challenge.
The menu will include pizza by the slice as well as a selection of calzones, freshly made pastas and salads, all made from authentic Italian ingredients and organically grown produce.
A Sunday brunch will highlight breakfast pizzas along with quirky offerings such as meatball hash and eggs and French toast made with focaccia bread.
Besides operating Italian eateries in San Francisco and Sacramento, Gemignani has written a cookbook called “Pizza,” and a children’s book titled “Tony and the Pizza Champions.”
