2022: The year in photos

As 2022 comes to an end, Los Angeles Times staff photographers share behind-the-scenes stories of some of their most memorable images. These photojournalists have been on the front lines of war zones, covering homelessness on the streets and documenting medical workers still confronting COVID-19. These are their stories.

Diego Medrano is a former video editor for the Los Angeles Times who has also written and shot photos for the Calendar and Saturday sections. He graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a bachelor’s in English and communications with an emphasis on radio, TV and film.
