TIMES WIRE REPORTS

EBay Inc. started a trial version of its Skype Internet-calling service for corporate users, seeking to expand the business beyond consumers as sales at its Web-auction unit decline.

Customers can make calls from Skype to a participating company’s phone system at no cost, EBay said. Companies also can call land lines and mobile phones for as little as 2.1 cents a minute.

EBay reported a 16% drop in sales for the marketplace business, its biggest unit, last quarter.
