Real estate brokerage CBRE's staff in downtown Los Angeles has no assigned desks or offices, with employees free to choose where to work from in the office.

This is an excellent idea, and one who's time has come for big companies. It hes been in use in my small office for several years thanks to my brilliant husband who designed the software. It tracks our clients and the extremely complex timelines, logs and metadata that must be kept on each individual and on each person's contacts from various agencies.
It's not just the physical layout, but the mental attitudethat as a great woman said, "makes a village".
