No more Malibu weather
Nicolas Cage, who stars in the upcoming movie “The Weather Man,” has sold his Malibu home for about $10 million.
The Oscar-winning actor, who owns a home in Bel-Air and a house in New Orleans, had owned the Malibu home since 1997, when he purchased it for close to its $3.6-million asking price.
He had remodeled the house, built in 1973. It has two bedrooms and three bathrooms in 2,800 square feet, according to public records. It’s on slightly more than half an acre overlooking the ocean and a pool.
Cage rented out the home during the last year and sold it to his tenants, area real estate sources said. It was not on the market.
The actor, 41, earned a best actor Academy Award for his role in “Leaving Las Vegas” (1995). Among his more recent movies are “Adaptation” (2002), “Matchstick Men” (2003) and “National Treasure” (2004).
He was divorced from Lisa Marie Presley in spring 2004, and in July he married former waitress Alice Kim. They are expecting their first child.
“The Weather Man” is scheduled to be released in April.
Now singing their duets in Bel-Air
Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have a new home in Bel-Air. They bought a Tuscan-style villa on just under an acre behind gates for $6.4 million.
The home has five bedrooms and 5 1/2 bathrooms in 7,300 square feet. The house, built in 1941 but recently renovated, also has a den, family room, guesthouse/studio, pool and formal gardens.
The actress-singer and her singer-actor husband also have homes in New York and Miami.
Lopez, 35, sold her Beverly Hills home for $12.5 million, including furnishings, in October. Lopez and Anthony were married there in June. Lopez has a new CD out called “Rebirth,” and she will start shooting her next film, “Bordertown,” next month.
The Grammy Award-winning Anthony, 35, has written and performed songs for such movies as “The Mask of Zorro” (1998), and he has appeared in such films as Martin Scorsese’s “Bringing Out the Dead” (1999).
In 1997, Anthony was the first salsa singer to sell out Madison Square Garden.
He produced and co-wrote a ballad with Lopez that is on her new CD.
After 24 hours at work, beach time
Mary Lynn Rajskub, who plays computer whiz Chloe O’Brian on the Fox series “24,” starring Kiefer Sutherland, has purchased a contemporary-style home at a Westside beach for close to $900,000.
The two-bedroom, 2 1/2 - bathroom house, built in the 1920s, underwent a major remodel. It has a large yard and a rec room with high ceilings, a bar and a bathroom.
Rajskub, 33, appeared in the 2002 movies “Punch-Drunk Love” with Adam Sandler and “Sweet Home Alabama” with Reese Witherspoon. This year, Rajskub, a comedian, is expected to appear in the new TV series “Kelsey Grammer Presents: The Sketch Show.”

Singer-actress adds L.A. to her beat
Singer-actress Deborah Gibson, who appears in the current issue of Playboy and is promoting her new pop-rock single “Naked,” has purchased a home in the L.A. area for about $1.3 million.
Gibson bought a house with two bedrooms and two bathrooms in nearly 1,800 square feet. The house was built in 1940 and has been updated.
The singer, 34, is moving to L.A. from New York. She has another home in her native New Jersey.
Gibson became a pop singer at age 16. Soon after, she wrote, produced and performed the No. 1 single “Foolish Beat.”
In the 1990s, she appeared on stage starring in “Grease” in London and in “Les Miserables” on Broadway.
She starred in “Cabaret” on Broadway in 2003.
Anthony Vulin of Keller Williams’ Millennium Team represented her in buying in Los Angeles.
What a place to be shipwrecked
The longtime Bel-Air home of actor Jim Backus and his actress wife, Henny, has come on the market at $2.75 million.
The actor, who provided the voice for the animated character Mr. Magoo and played daffy millionaire Thurston Howell III in the syndicated sitcom “Gilligan’s Island,” died in 1989 at 76.
His wife, a Broadway showgirl who went on to play Cora Dithers in the ‘60s sitcom “Blondie,” died in December at 93.
The couple, married for 46 years, hosted many parties at their home, which they bought in August 1955.
The traditional-style house, built in 1933, has three bedrooms and 3 1/2 bathrooms in 3,400 square feet. French doors lead to a flagstone patio and park-like grounds. The pool has been restored. The house has two fireplaces, hardwood floors, a butler’s pantry and a garden room.
