Los Feliz home of L.A. Police Chief William Bratton for sale for $1,875,000
The Los Feliz home of L.A. Police Chief William J. Bratton and his wife, Rikki Klieman, has come on the market at $1,875,000.
The one-story house, built in 1964, has four bedrooms and three bathrooms in 2,716 square feet. Described in the Multiple Listing Service as an “architectural hacienda,” the private walled and gated home has a courtyard entry, city light views, outdoor entertainment areas and a swimming pool surrounded by mature trees and landscaping. Inside the updated post-and-beam house are vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors and a redone kitchen.
The couple purchased the Los Feliz home in early 2003 for $1,244,000, and Bratton said they plan to buy another home in Los Angeles when it sells.
Bratton, 61, the former head of the Boston and New York police, was appointed to his Los Angeles post in 2002.
In early June, Queen Elizabeth II announced that L.A.’s top cop will receive the honorary title of Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in September. Media reports have speculated that Bratton may one day become the head of Scotland Yard.
Klieman is an attorney and TV legal analyst. She left her show “Both Sides” (1994-2003) to move to L.A. in 2003. Since then, she has expanded her acting career with recurring roles on “Las Vegas” (2005-08) and “Shark” (2006-08) in addition to guest appearances on other shows.
The listings agents are Dorothy Carter and Michael Orland of Keller Williams Realty, Los Feliz, according to the MLS.
Pair’s Pacific Palisades pad sold
Actress Brynn Thayer and her husband, award-winning manager-writer-producer David Steinberg, have sold their longtime Pacific Palisades home for $2,995,000.
The 3,300-square-foot post-and-beam house, built in 1972, has four bedrooms and 3 1/2 bathrooms and sits on a heavily treed lot of about a half-acre. There are three fireplaces in the gated four-story home, which has ocean views from the master bedroom suite. Outdoors, a terrace and patios provide additional space for entertaining.
Thayer, 59, whose more recent television roles included guest appearances on “Life in General” (2008), “Without a Trace” (2008) and “Crossing Jordan” (2006), had the long-running role of attorney and Ben Matlock daughter Leanne McIntyre on “Matlock” (1991-94) starring Andy Griffith.
Steinberg has been involved in the careers of talents including Robin Williams and Billy Crystal. He won a Grammy for producing the “Robin Williams Live at the Met” album. He co-wrote the Oscar telecasts hosted by Crystal and won two Emmy Awards with Crystal for the work.
Thayer and Steinberg had owned the home since the mid-’90s and sold because they have moved to Bel-Air.

Ennis House is drawing interest
The Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Ennis House in Los Feliz has come on the Multiple Listing Service at $15 million. The Ennis House Foundation announced its intention to sell the 1924 landmark last month.
“The word has gotten out, and we are now going through the process of deciding who can get in to see the house,” said Jeffrey Hyland of Hilton & Hyland, one of the listing agents. About half a dozen requests have come from people highly qualified to make such a purchase, he said.
The Mayan-inspired home, with four bedrooms and 4 1/2 bathrooms in about 6,000 square feet, sits on about three-quarters of an acre with city, canyon and ocean views.
Architectural details include high wood-beamed ceilings, art-glass windows, a window-lined loggia looking out on the pool and a glass mosaic-tile fireplace in the living room. There is a billiard room, bar, library, den, office, pantry and basement. Chauffeur’s quarters, with a bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette and living area, are above the four-car garage.
The foundation has set no time limit on finding a buyer, Hyland said, adding there had been one inquiry from Europe. “There’s a good chance the buyer will not be local.”
The nonprofit has spent about $6.5 million to restore the estate, the largest example of Wright’s “textile block” style using patterned concrete. The house, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, “needs more stewardship at this point than a small nonprofit can sustain,” the foundation states on its website.
The listing is shared by Hyland, Rick Hilton and Aaron Kirman of Hilton & Hyland, Beverly Hills, and Mark Dilbeck and Ray Hayes of Dilbeck Realtors, San Marino and South Pasadena. Christie’s Great Estates is handling the national and international marketing.
‘Gossip Girl’ exec to head near Hills
“Gossip Girl” executive producer Bob Levy has purchased a Hollywood Hills-area home for $1,005,000.
There are two bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms in about 1,620 square feet. The list- ing called the house a “modern reinterpretation” by L.A.-based architect Chet Callahan.
Sliding glass doors off the living, kitchen and dining areas open to terrace views of Hollywood, downtown L.A. and the Griffith Observatory.
The two-story house, built in 1965, previously sold for $759,000 in 2004.
Levy was the vice president of prime-time series at NBC before joining Alloy Entertainment in 2001, where he is an executive producer of all of the firm’s television projects, including “Gossip Girl” (2007-present), “The Vampire Diaries” (2009) and “Samurai Girl” (2008).
The listing agent was Crystal Heatherly of Deasy/Penner & Partners, Beverly Hills. Konstantine Valissarakos of Sotheby’s International Realty, Los Feliz, represented the buyer.
