White House Decor 1
As the stage for Barack Obama's presidency, the White House will be scrutinized for clues and cues on what the public at large might do on the home front. Will the first family usher in a period of recessionary restraint, a dialed-down, globally influenced and increasingly Earth-friendly form of decorating? The Los Angeles Times asked designers to think about what kind of statement the Obamas could make. Los Angeles-based Judith Lance took on the West Sitting Hall, shown here in 1893 with First Lady Frances Folsom Cleveland.
