Throwback Thursday: Home was Rue McClanahan’s during her ‘Golden Girls’ days
The Studio City house was once home to Rue McClanahan of the TV show “Golden Girls.”
A Studio City home once owned by “Golden Girl” Rue McClanahan has sold for $3.4 million.
That’s roughly $2 million more than the $1.41 million paid for the gated house last year. The late actress sold the property in 1988, during the sitcom’s heyday, for $625,000.
The Cape Cod-inspired two story, built in 1954, was taken down to the studs this year and remodeled to its current 4,005-square-foot configuration. Living spaces include dining and family rooms, a formal entry and a breakfast area. There are two master suites for a total of five bedrooms and six bathrooms. One of the master retreats and the great room have fireplaces.
The outdoor areas feature a kitchen, dining space, a swimming pool, a spa and a fire pit. The nearly two-thirds-acre site is enclosed by fencing and takes in mountain, valley and cityscape views. The motor court can accommodate eight vehicles and the garage, another two.
McClanahan, who died five years ago at 76, won an Emmy for her lead role in the enduring sitcom, which ran from 1985 to 1992. She had previously co-starred with actress Bea Arthur on the series “Maude.”
Lynn Teschner of the Agency was the listing agent, and Peter Lorimer of PLG Estates represented the buyer.
