Earthquake: 3.7 quake strikes near Pine Valley, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.7 earthquake was reported Thursday afternoon 22 miles from Pine Valley, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 5:25 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 5 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 32 miles from El Centro, Calif., 32 miles from Imperial, Calif., and 34 miles from Tecate, Mexico.

In the last 10 days, there have been two earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
