“I definitely will miss him and all his wisdom--the things he taught me in life,” Gonzalez’s eldest son, Fernando Paz, told the news station.

The shooting was reported about 9:30 p.m. Sunday at Indiana Avenue and Worth Street, police said.

Several workers from a nearby business notified police about the killing after they were alerted by a driver who was passing by and made the discovery, according to LAPD Det. Jose Ramirez.

Upon their arrival, officers found Gonzalez lying near his cab on the road. His body had several gunshot wounds.

Several shell casings were recovered at the scene, but it was unknown how many times the victim was shot, Ramirez said.
