Anonymous Million Mask March members protest in downtown L.A.
Members of the Anonymous Million Mask March movement hit the streets of Los Angeles on Tuesday evening as part of what they described as a global protest against corporate greed and government oppression.
The marches, during which protesters wore anonymous masks, took place in cities including Melbourne, London, Prague and Washington, D.C., organizers said.
“Worldwide, every day, our rights are being taken away,” said a protester who identified himself as Guy.
“We are here to stand up for our rights,” said another marcher who identified herself as Rhapsody.
They and other members of the group gathered in front of The Times building on Tuesday evening after marching from Pershing Square to the Federal Reserve building, where protesters said they were forced to leave by security personnel.
They said members of the movement were participating in a seven-day “universal boycott” of corporations, which they faulted for greedy, abusive practices.
“The power is with the people,” one protester shouted, saying the group represented the interests of 99% of the global population. “They are sick and tired of not being heard.”
