Lena Horne
Ralph Cooper and Horne in 1938's "The Duke Is Tops." Horne's mother pushed her daughter to quit school at 16 and go into show business at Harlem's Cotton Club. Horne, who broke racial barriers as a Hollywood and Broadway star famed for her velvety rendition of "Stormy Weather," has died at 92.
