The Defense Department last week identified the following American military personnel killed in Iraq or who died at a U.S. hospital of their injuries:

Nathaniel A. Aguirre, 21, of Carrollton, Texas; specialist, Army. Aguirre was one of two soldiers killed by a sniper Oct. 22 while on foot patrol in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Patrick O. Barlow, 42, of Greensboro, N.C.; staff sergeant, Army. Barlow died Oct. 18 in San Antonio from a noncombat-related medical condition. He was serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was assigned to the 50th Engineer Company at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo.

Amos C.R. Bock, 24, of New Madrid, Mo.; first lieutenant, Army. Bock was killed Monday when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Ft. Campbell, Ky.

Donald S. Brown, 19, of Succasunna, N.J.; private first class, Marine Corps. Brown was killed Wednesday when a roadside bomb exploded near his Humvee in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

Richard A. Buerstetta, 20, of Franklin, Tenn.; lance corporal, Marine Corps Reserve. Buerstetta was one of two reservists killed Monday when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Corps Reserve in Nashville.

Daniel B. Chaires, 20, of Tallahassee, Fla.; private first class, Marine Corps. Chaires was killed in combat Wednesday in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

Clifford R. Collinsworth, 20, of Chelsea, Mich.; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Collinsworth was among four Marines killed Oct. 21 when a roadside bomb exploded near their Humvee in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Matthew W. Creed, 23, of Covina; specialist, Army. Creed was one of two soldiers killed by a sniper Oct. 22 while on foot patrol in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Carl A. Eason, 29, of Lovelady, Texas; specialist, Army. Eason was killed Monday when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division in Baumholder, Germany.

Elrod was among four Marines killed Oct. 21 when a roadside bomb exploded near their Humvee in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Thomas M. Gilbert, 24, of Downers Grove, Ill.; sergeant, Marine Corps Reserve. Gilbert was killed in combat Wednesday in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Corps Reserve in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Eric W. Herzberg, 20, of Severna Park, Md.; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Herzberg was killed in combat Oct. 21 in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Tony L. Knier, 31, of Sabinsville, Pa.; sergeant first class, Army. Knier was killed Oct. 21 when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in Bayji, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, N.C.

Charles V. Komppa, 35, of Belgrade, Mont.; petty officer second class, Navy Reserve. Komppa was killed Wednesday when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was serving with the 3rd Naval Construction Regiment, and assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 18, Navy Reserve in Billings, Mont.

Edwardo J. Lopez, 21, of Aurora, Ill.; private, Marine Corps. Lopez was killed in combat Oct. 19 in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

Nicholas J. Manoukian, 22, of Lathrup Village, Mich.; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Manoukian was among four Marines killed Oct. 21 when a roadside bomb exploded near their Humvee in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Ricky L. McGinnis, 42, of Hamilton, Ohio; first sergeant, Army. McGinnis died Thursday in Balad of injuries suffered that day when a roadside bomb exploded near him while on foot patrol in Muqdadiya, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Willsun M. Mock, 23, of Harper, Kan.; sergeant, Army. Mock was killed Oct. 22 when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division in Schweinfurt, Germany.

Jesus M. Montalvo, 46, of Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico; staff sergeant, Army. Montalvo was killed Oct. 18 when his unit was attacked with small-arms fire in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Tyler R. Overstreet, 22, of Gallatin, Tenn.; lance corporal, Marine Corps Reserve. Overstreet was one of two reservists killed Monday when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Corps Reserve in Nashville.

Ronald L. Paulsen, 53, of Vancouver, Wash.; staff sergeant, Army Reserve. Paulsen was killed Oct. 17 when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in Tarmiya, northwest of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 414th Civil Affairs Battalion, Army Reserve in Utica, N.Y.

Nicholas K. Rogers, 27, of Deltona, Fla.; specialist, Army. Rogers was killed Oct. 22 when his unit was attacked with small-arms fire while on foot patrol in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division at Ft. Drum, N.Y.

Charles O. Sare, 23, of Hemet; seaman, Navy. Sare was killed Monday when his Humvee struck a roadside bomb in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. The hospital corpsman, who was serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, was assigned to the Naval Ambulatory Care Center in Port Hueneme.

David G. Taylor, 37, of North Carolina; major, Army. Taylor was killed Oct. 22 when a roadside bomb exploded near his Humvee in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division in Baumholder, Germany.

Jonathan B. Thornsberry, 22, of McDowell, Ky.; lance corporal, Marine Corps Reserve. Thornsberry was killed in combat Wednesday in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Corps Reserve in Johnson City, Tenn.

Joshua C. Watkins, 25, of Jacksonville, Fla.; corporal, Marine Corps. Watkins was among four Marines killed Oct. 21 when a roadside bomb exploded near their Humvee in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Tank Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Kevin M. Witte, 27, of Beardsley, Minn.; staff sergeant, Army. Witte was killed Oct. 20 when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division in Baumholder, Germany.
