Whiff of hypocrisy
Re “LAPD fiscal practices are called risky,” March 20
It is ironic that L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa insists that residents back his plan to overhaul the Los Angeles Unified School District, yet he fails to see the blunders within the Police Department. The details of City Controller Laura Chick’s audit are disheartening; it is clear that Villaraigosa should balance his own books before he gambles on the educational futures of our city’s public school students.
Note to the City Council: Next time you raise our trash fees, do the audit first to see if the levy is indeed warranted.
