Eight Suspects Arrested in Varanasi Bombings
Police detained and questioned eight men in the bombings that killed 20 people Tuesday at a temple and train station in Varanasi, a police official said.
Two of the men resembled police sketches of suspects and the others were their acquaintances, said Yashpal Singh, director-general of Uttar Pradesh state police.
Residents alerted police after spotting the men in Hardoi, a town in Uttar Pradesh about 200 miles southeast of New Delhi, Singh said. The eight have been taken to Varanasi, formerly known as Benares, for possible identification by witnesses, he said.
