“Some Homes Had Shields to Ward Off Wildfires” (April 1) failed to mention one tip that might have saved some homes from burning, especially the newer homes: Homeowners should remove all flammable drapes, curtains, etc., from their windows prior to evacuating. Radiant heat from the flames can ignite those items and cause an otherwise safe home to burn.
