Plagued for weeks with lower back trouble, left fielder Carl Crawford was held out of the Dodgers lineup Friday night and could face a stint on the 15-day disabled list.

Manager Dave Roberts planned to gauge Crawford’s readiness to play for Sunday’s series finale against the Giants. If Crawford cannot answer the bell, the team will determine during Monday’s off day whether it needs to clear a spot on the roster.

“It’s been there for a while,” Crawford said before Friday’s game. “It just finally got to a point where I couldn’t take the pain no more.”

The disabled list is not an unfamiliar location for Crawford. He averaged 80 games per season from 2012 to 2015.

“I figured if you just train and make your muscles strong, they should be able to last,” Crawford said. “But it seems like it’s been the opposite for me. You can’t not do nothing. You feel terrible about that.

“So you just try to do the things that you can that you think are going to help. But for some reason, I don’t know what’s the case with me, it just hasn’t been working.”

Crawford turns 35 in August. The Dodgers owe him $43.5 million during these next two seasons.

Ryu gets work in

Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder surgery) threw two innings in a simulated game at Camelback Ranch. He will pitch again in a longer appearance — Roberts was unclear about the exact duration of Ryu’s next outing — on Tuesday.

Bolsinger ‘a long ways off’

Mike Bolsinger (oblique strain) has been throwing on flat ground at a distance of 90 feet, but is “a long ways off” from rejoining the team,” Roberts said. Bolsinger still needs to throw bullpen sessions, rounds of live batting practice and build up his arm to handle a 100-pitch load before he can return.

He injured himself shortly after the team decided upon him as its fifth starter.
