The Lakers have some interest in free-agent point guard Sebastian Telfair, according to Sam Amico of Fox Sports.

The Lakers have three point guards under contract for the coming season in Steve Nash, Steve Blake and Jordan Farmar. Is there room for a fourth?

Last season the Lakers carried four point guards with Darius Morris, Chris Duhon, Nash and Blake, but Duhon was arguably acquired as filler in the Dwight Howard trade with the Orlando Magic.

With Nash and Blake struggling with injury for significant stretches last season, Morris and Duhon played much bigger roles than the team had intended.

Telfair is a solid nine-year veteran who is only 28 years old. He played for the Toronto Raptors and Phoenix Suns last season, averaging 5.6 points and 2.6 assists.

Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld.com also commented on Amico’s report.

After signing Shawne Williams on Tuesday, the Lakers increased their roster to 13 players (Elias Harris and Williams are not fully guaranteed).

The Lakers are expected to bring between 16 and 20 players to camp, with 13 to 15 making the opening night roster on Oct. 29.

It’s unclear if Telfair will be with the Lakers when training camp starts Sept. 27. Given the team’s existing depth at point guard, that might be a stretch.
