National parks and forests that charge entry fees will be free to all visitors on Veterans Day. It’s a way to get America into the outdoors Friday on a day we honor those who have fought for our country.

Free entry applies Friday only at sites nationwide, including California parks like Yosemite, Joshua Tree, Death Valley and Sequoia & Kings Canyon (fees cost $20 to $30 for seven days per car at these parks).

National forests — including Angeles north of L.A., Los Padres and San Bernardino — also waive the Adventure Pass fee, which usually costs $5 per car.
