The Iranian diaspora in Los Angeles is reeling from the escalating threat of war. With communication lines often cut, families here are worried for loved ones back home. Amid this turmoil, the community finds strength in unity, transcending diverse backgrounds to support one another.
Albert Brave Tiger Lee is a Southern California native, son of Korean immigrants, a father and a staff videographer at the Los Angeles Times. His work spans various mediums of visual storytelling and has been recognized for various disciplines including a national Emmy Award for News and Documentary, an RFK Journalism Award, Pictures of the Year International honors, the National Press Photographers Assn.’s Best of Photojournalism Award and Columbia University’s Dart Award.
Lauren Ng is a summer intern at the Food section of the Los Angeles Times. A Torrance native, she has previously written and edited for Food Fix, an American food policy newsletter, and is pursuing bachelor’s degrees in journalism and food studies at New York University, where she is the managing editor of the award-winning student newspaper. At The Times, Ng aims to explore the intersection between food, culture and politics. When she isn’t reading or writing about food, she can be found browsing restaurant menus or looking for a new vegetable to obsess over.
