It would seem that the United Nations might have only a gazillion other issues to tackle, but the BBC reports that celeb coke addicts are a hot topic. A report from the International Narcotics Control Board -- the U.N. watchdog agency for all things druggy -- shows that famous drug users get treated too leniently. Duh! (Some of them get off for murdering their wives too.)

‘Celebrities are often involved in illicit drug trafficking or in illicit drug use and this is glamorised,’ said INCB president Philip Emafo. ‘If, indeed, they have committed offences they should be dealt with.’ Try telling that to judges in Los Angeles, pal.

The Rage agrees, but also thinks that the UN might want to train a lens on Colombian drug cartels and opium wars. Just a suggestion. Then again, maybe famous folks who wake and bake and/or cut lines with their black AmEx cards are sending out the wrong message. On American University’s online school paper The Eagle, students were asked: ‘Who is your favorite celebrity drug addict?’ One answered: ‘Liza Minelli. She committed hate crimes against her husband.’ Another said: ‘I can’t get enough of pop stars going to rehab.’ How about you crack open some books, kids?
