Scott Schuman is the Anna Wintour of fashion bloggers, with the ability to influence designers and the way people, especially men, dress.

His blog thesartorialist.com began as snapshots of sharply turned out New Yorkers, mainly fashion insiders -- PR folk, stylists, magazine editors and retailers (Schuman worked for 15 years in the industry). After reaching 180,000 daily visitors, it developed into guest blogging gigs and videos for men.style.com (now GQ.com), then a monthly page in GQ magazine.

In 2008, Schuman was named one of Time magazine’s Top 100 design influencers.

His photography now regularly graces the printed pages of French Vogue, GQ, Elle and Fantastic Man and he also appears on the other side of the lens, including a recent Global Gentleman insert for Verizon.

On Thursday (Oct. 22), Barneys New York invites fans and the curious to meet Schuman in Beverly Hills. Schuman will be signing copies of his coffee-table paperback, also called “The Sartorialist” (Penguin). The book is available in paperback ($25) or a hardcover Bespoke Edition ($125).

9570 Wilshire Blvd., 5th Floor, Beverly Hills. (310) 777-5725 for RSVP. 5 to 7 p.m.
