It might come as a surprise, but Trina Turk has been offering a menswear collection, dubbed Mr. Turk, ever since she opened her first retail store in Palm Springs in 2002.

In the beginning, Mr. Turk consisted of a small number of pieces in the designer’s signature bold, vintage-inspired aesthetic -- a few pairs of shorts, a trouser or two and a couple of shirts -- and only available at two brick-and-mortar Trina Turk boutiques, the Palm Springs store and the one in East Hampton, N.Y.

That’s since grown to a total of 23 styles (produced in limited runs of about 20 pieces each) for spring/summer 2010, with prices ranging from $128 (for a striped cotton short-sleeve button front shirt) to $398 (for a riotous jacquard pattern jacket).

And this month, for the first time the entire Mr. Turk collection is available for purchase online.

Turk says she was motivated to make the guys gear accessible through cyberspace after a high-profile shindig. “Jonathan Skow, my husband and our creative director, and I threw a barbecue that was covered in the May issue of Martha Stewart Living,’ she said. ‘And a large number of the shots were of the male guests, who were all wearing Mr. Turk.’

‘Since then, the stores are getting a ton of queries — from guys themselves and from their girlfriends, wives, sisters, you name it — about where they can buy our menswear, so we realized we needed to make it available quickly and widely, and getting it up on our website is the easiest way of doing that.”

So, guys, if you want to go bold this summer, your new wingman -- that’d be Mr. Turk -- is just a few clicks away.
