A soft-spoken and petite Jacki Weaver, who plays a fearsome mother in the Australian gangster drama ‘Animal Kingdom,’ remarked with some amusement that some people are now afraid of her when they see her on the street, which, she said, was fine by her.
But she also said she believed that this year’s trend toward evil maternal figures is notable but not new.
‘It’s been going on since I was a little girl -- ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ -- what about that mother!’
