The British government says it is expelling two Iranian diplomats after Tehran ordered out two British Embassy staff members in Tehran.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown announced the decision today in the British House of Commons, BBC reports.

‘Iran yesterday took the unjustified step of expelling two British diplomats over allegations which are absolutely without foundation,” Brown is quoted as saying.

‘In response to that action, we informed the Iranian ambassador today that we would expel two Iranian diplomats from their embassy in London.’

Iran’s leadership has repeatedly accused Britain and other Western governments of fomenting unrest over the reelection of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a disputed election.
