Botox as a symbol of freedom of expression? I’m no slouch when it comes to appreciating irony, but I gotta say, this possibility hadn’t occurred to me. But that’s why God made publicists. This just in from the good folks promoting an interview opportunity with Virginia Madsen:

‘There is no question that the 2008 election marks one of the most historic events in election history. Record numbers of voters are taking part in primaries across the country. That is why Oscar-nominated actress Virginia Madsen has teamed up with the League of Women Voters (LVW) and Botox Cosmetic (Butulinum Toxin Type A) to launch a public service campaign urging women to register, vote and be heard.

‘It is all about ‘freedom of expression’ -- something that Susan B. Anthony fought hard for and thanks to her efforts in 1920, suffragists celebrated the freedom to express themselves at the ballot box. Twenty-two presidential elections later, Oscar-nominated actress Virginia Madsen is encouraging women to do the same -- to register to vote and express themselves. Madsen’s public service announcement (PSA), which is sponsored by Allergan Inc., makers of Botox Cosmetic, and dedicated to voter education and registration, can be viewed at: http://hhrtv.com/online/lowv2.html.’

This made my day.
