Audiences apparently were ‘just not that into’ the film’s negative critical reviews around the web. Despite bad buzz, New Line’s ensemble comedy hauled in an impressive $10.5 million on Friday night.

If you cast stars -- big ones -- moviegoers will still flock to the cineplex. Though it took two hours to pack in enough screen time with all the stars in ‘He’s Just Not That Into You,’ Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Connelly, Ginnifer Goodwin and Drew Barrymore prove the power of the ensemble cast.

The ‘splat’ of a 44% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes, didn’t stop gals (and guys) from opening their wallets and proved the point that you’re bound to find at least one celebrity you love in this film.

According to Variety, the film based on the catchphrase and popular book took in an estimated $10.5 million on Friday. ‘Into You’ opened against two family films, ‘Coraline’ and ‘Pink Panther 2,’ that took in $4.5 million and $3.375 million, respectively. Liam Neeson’s action flick ‘Taken’ took second place with $6.3 million, according to Box Office Mojo.

The weekend’s other wide opener, the super-powered thriller ‘Push’ with Dakota Fanning, opened in fourth position with $3.5 million. If the trend holds, it looks like the date night / girls’ night out crowd beats out both action and family fare this weekend.
