Did we say the All-Star Game was starting earlier? Yup, that’s what we heard at the Fox upfront, but it turns out that it is the World Series that will start earlier.

Specifically, weeknight games for the October Classic will start at 7:57 Eastern time (we still don’t see why it can’t be 7:56). In recent years the start time has often been after 8:30 or even later. That drew the ire of baseball purists who argued that the late starts kept families and kids from seeing more of the game. And Fox, of course, is as much for family values as we are.

We were not the only ones who misheard the news. Even some senior Fox executives thought the announcement was concerning the All-Star Game. Wishful thinking on both our parts.
