In his first game at Angel Stadium since leaving the team with which he spent the first 14 seasons of his major league career, Garret Anderson walked to the plate amid warm applause from the largely red-clad crowd. Many cheered, some even stood and applauded.

When he struck out, fans cheered him on his way back to the dugout, and then boos rained down as Manny Ramirez walked from the on-deck circle to the batter’s box.

Before the game, Anderson, who is expected to win a spot on the Dodgers’ 25-man roster, said he wasn’t sure what to expect from the crowd. He said it would ‘be unfair to have any expectations’ about how he might be treated, but, initially at least, he seems to be welcome in his old ballpark even though he’s now wearing Dodger Blue.
