In addition to recognized former stars Mike Scioscia (Angels), Dusty Baker (Reds) and Samuel, there are a host of others with Dodgers connections.

The Rockies’ Jim Tracy, of course, made his managerial debut with the Dodgers in 2001, spending five seasons at Chavez Ravine.

The Phillies’ Charlie Manuel was a pinch-hitter and sometimes left fielder for the 1975 Dodgers. The Rangers’ Ron Washington made his major league debut as an infielder with the Dodgers in 1977.

Several others were coaches in their system.

The Nationals’ Jim Riggleman, originally drafted as a third baseman by the Dodgers in 1974, spent four years as Tracy’s bench coach. The Astros’ Brad Mills managed the Dodgers’ triple-A Las Vegas team to the Pacific Coast League title in 2002.

The Mariners’ Don Wakamatsu was a minor league catcher for the Dodgers in 1992. Even the Braves’ Bobby Cox was originally an infielder in the Dodgers’ system.

And then, of course, there is the current guy, Joe Torre.
