I’m sitting here in the press box at Anaheim Stadium late Tuesday night after the Dodgers’ latest stumble, wondering why I’m struggling with anything new to say about your beloved Boys in Blue.

Haven’t seen them personally in a week, and not one fresh idea?

Then it hits me. It’s because they look just like the team I last saw. The team made to look lifeless by the Angels.

Tuesday’s 6-3 loss to the Angels was the Dodgers’ fifth consecutive loss and eighth in 10 games.

Which leads to the logical question: How bad can this get?

Logical answer: Very bad.

The Dodgers could easily be looking at a 10-game losing streak.

On Wednesday, they send suddenly shaky John Ely (9.50 ERA in his last three starts) against Joel Pineiro, who has won three consecutive games, including a complete-game shutout of the Dodgers June 11.

On Thursday,, they hook up the electrodes and try to bring Charlie Haeger (0-4, 8.53 ERA) back to life against Scott Kazmir, who’s won his last four decisions.

Is it so hard to envision another Angels’ three-game sweep?

Then, of course, comes the weekend and the defending champion Yankees, who again own baseball’s best record (44-27).

And because the Dodgers have already lost eight consecutive games to American League teams, it’s not so hard to see this building to a 10-game losing streak overall.

That’s how bad it could get.

After the Yankees come three games at San Francisco against the suddenly hot Giants, the Dodgers sending Chad Billingsley right off the disabled list, sans any rehab starts.

Really, how bad could this get? Maybe about now you’re liking it better when I had no ideas.
