Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw to serve five-game suspension, will start Sunday in San Francisco

Left-hander Clayton Kershaw has dropped his appeal and will begin serving his five-game suspension Tuesday.

Kershaw is now scheduled to next start Sunday in San Francisco.

The suspension is not a huge deal; it simply pushes his next scheduled start back one day.

Kershaw was suspended for hitting Giants center fielder Aaron Rowand with a pitch in that wild July 20 game at Dodger Stadium.

Umpires deemed the pitch intentional and in retaliation for Dodger Matt Kemp getting hit by a pitch earlier in the game.

Kershaw last started Sunday and threw eight shut-out innings against the Mets.
