Checking back in with pitching phenom Kenley Jansen …

Full speed ahead.

Jansen continues to amaze. Really, this should not be happening, but it is.

Today marks three weeks since his call-up from the minors, and he has yet to give up a run.

He has appeared in seven games, pitching seven scoreless innings on four hits and two walks. And has struck out 11, and for bonus points, even picked up a save.

Eric Stephen at Truebluela.com reports that seven consecutive scoreless appearances of one inning or more is the longest ever to start a Los Angeles Dodgers career, one more than ex-closer Jeff Shaw.

Remember, this is a guy who was a catcher until last summer.

OK, it’s still really, really early and all. But thus far, the 22-year-old continues to look like a legitimate find.
His scoreless bubble could burst any time, but his calm and composure suggests he’ll be able to handle any beginner’s setback.

Joe Torre gets criticized plenty for his use of the bullpen, but has picked his spots wisely for Jansen.
