For two years, I masqueraded as the Realist Idealist, using my L.A. home as a living experiment to test sustainable home retrofits for the Los Angeles Times. The results of my experiences raising chickens and harvesting rainwater, installing solar panels, even living with a composting toilet, are all summarized in a package of stories that ran last weekend in Home.
