Steve Martin and Tina Fey will appear together on stage -- a big stage, at the Nokia Theatre -- on April 19. Tickets go on sale today.
The event is being presented by Live Talks LA. Ticket prices range from $29 to $119, with the higher end including signed copies of the books by both authors.
Though Fey and Martin are two of America’s most gifted comedians, they’re not doing a stand-up routine. They’re on book tour.
Well, Martin has been on book tour already, talking about his novel ‘An Object of Beauty’ with audiences both appreciative (in L.A.) and not (in N.Y.). Fey’s first book, ‘Bossypants,’ comes out April 5.
‘Bossypants’ is a collection of humorous essays, one of which, about being a working mom, appeared in the Feb. 14 issue of the New Yorker. And have you seen the man-hands cover?
When she’s not writing about being a working mom, Fey is one. Her day job (jobs?) is being writer, producer and star on the television series ’30 Rock,’ which is based on a ‘Saturday Night Live’-like TV show -- which is also, of course, where Fey got her big break on television. Martin is no stranger to ‘Saturday Night Live,’ which by 2009 he had hosted 15 times, tied for the most hosting spots with Alec Baldwin, who co-stars in ’30 Rock’ with Fey. But Baldwin will not be here: This is about Fey and Martin.
Each time I saw Martin speak about his book, he was a bit quicker and a lot funnier than his interviewers. But in Fey, he will have an equal on stage: It’s a literary event not to be missed.
