Dynamic design duo Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel of Studio Job created Bavaria, a limited-edition suite of five exquisite marquetry furnishings for Moss. Inspired by the 17th and 18th century tradition of hand-painted furniture in southern Germany, the works such as the Bavaria dining table (shown above and left), feature a dense array of multicolored laser-cut wooden inlays set in rosewood. The oval-shaped, 94-inch-long table, with its tableau of farm life sells for $90,000 -- and that’s not chicken feed. It’s definitely in the furniture-as-art-category -- but we can all still look and dream.
