The Deal: Kluft mattress sale at Bloomie’s

The new Sleep Shops that premiered at Bloomingdale’s this week carry the luxurious E.S. Kluft & Co. mattresses, known for their hand-tailoring. They will be sold exclusively at Westside Pavilion in L.A., Westfield Fashion Square in Sherman Oaks, South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa and Fashion Island in Newport Beach.

Just how luxurious are these mattresses? Think English springs encased in calico cotton. Think layers of cashmere, mohair, wool, cotton and Talalay latex. Think hand tufting and side stitching. Think $30,000.

Now through Monday, prices for Kluft’s Palais Royale line, which normally runs from $26,889 for a queen to $33,275 for a king, will be slashed to $15,058 and $18,634. Other Kluft mattress sets will be reduced too -- originally ranging from $4,998 to $12,939, now on sale for $2,399 to $6,210.

Prices are for mattress and box spring. They include Bloomingdale’s five-year ‘comfort guarantee’ and a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty. And yes, shipping is included. Even at those sale prices, I’d hope it would come with a good-night’s-sleep guarantee too.
