Body of young woman found floating off La Jolla beach

Authorities in San Diego are attempting to determine the identity and cause of death for a young woman whose body was found floating Saturday morning near the Scripps Pier in La Jolla.

A surfer spotted the body of a woman about 100 yards off the beach, according to the San Diego County medical examiner. The woman appeared to be 18 to 28 years old. The UC San Diego police were called to the scene by lifeguards.

Foul play is not suspected.
