Firefighters in Bakersfield put out a house fire only to find 25 cats and five dogs inside the smoky home, the Associated Press reports:

Fire Capt. Bryan Perry says one dog died of smoke inhalation but firefighters revived four other pets by using oxygen masks adapted for animals. Perry said an oven fire is believed to have started the blaze at about 9:30 a.m. Friday in a home on Marsha Street. The man living there fled and wasn’t hurt. Perry said the pets were found after the flames were extinguished. The fire caused an estimated $80,000 in damage.
