With the growing number of unwanted dogs and cats entering animal shelters, experts agree it’s best to spay or neuter your pet. Often owners are unable to take care of their animal’s unexpected offspring, leading them to take the young ones to shelters in the hope that someone else will be able to offer them a home. According to the Humane Society of the United States, more than 6 million dogs and cats are dropped off at shelters each year, with 3 million of them ultimately being euthanized. Unfortunately, there are more animals entering shelters than people willing to take them in, resulting in this staggering number of animal deaths.

To better inform the public, SPCA Malaysia recently released a clever public service announcement about the importance of spaying and neutering companion animals. In the commercial, a dog roams the city on a mission to purchase contraception before doing the deed with his female companion. At the end of the commercial, the screen cuts to black and says ‘There are some things you can’t teach your dog. Be a responsible owner. Neuter or spay your pet.’

It’s true; Sparky is just following his instincts, so why not save him from himself?
