Tiger Woods will speak out Friday -- and at least we’ll know for sure where he is

For nearly three months, Tiger Woods has maintained media silence -- which in recent weeks has sparked a ‘Where’s Waldo’-type frenzy that placed him at rehabs in the middle of Arizona; Cape Town, South Africa; and Hattiesburg, Miss. His return to tournament golf also was predicted as occurring as early as, well, today.

The return to golf hasn’t happened quite yet, but news is, Tiger will speak Friday morning to a ‘small group of friends, colleagues and close associates’ at the clubhouse of the TPC Sawgrass course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., home of the PGA Tour.

‘This is all about the next step,’ said his agent, Mark Steinberg. ‘He’s looking forward to it.’

Woods will discuss the past and what he plans next, along with apologizing for his behavior, Steinberg said.

Tiger’s wife, Elin Nordegren, was spotted earlier today entering their Florida home with a couple of cups of Starbucks. Dang -- if it were chai instead of coffee, maybe we could read those tea leaves.

Woods is scheduled to speak at 8 a.m. PST, incidentally, if you’re the type to set your clock by such things.
