We knew it!

Old Spice commercial actor Isaiah Mustafa -- who caught the Ministry’s eye way back when -- has been signed to a talent deal by NBC, Variety reports.

What this means is that in addition to being on a boat and on a horse, Mustafa could well be on a sitcom.

He told Variety that after talking with several networks, he honed in on NBC, the one that owned the ‘Cosby Show’ period he grew up in. ‘To me, they controlled comedy and dictated my life on Thursday nights,’ he said. ‘And I think that’s my strength, doing comedy.’

No kidding -- improvisation is how the former NFL player got the Old Spice gig in the first place, riffing on his buddy’s answering machine before hitting the audition. The clever commercial then rode this year’s Super Bowl XLIV ad-awareness wave, hitting TV the day after the big game.
