‘Jersey Shore’ star ‘Snooki’ can’t trademark her name

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has rebuked Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi, turning down her application to trademark her nickname for use on books, the Smoking Gun reports.

Seems a cat named Snooky beat the other Snooki to the bargain bin -- with a swing by the patent office along the way, back in 2003, which would cause a ‘likelihood of confusion.’

Now, even though the patent office reports to the secretary of Commerce, who reports to the president, we’re sure this rejection had nothing to do with the ‘Jersey Shore’ star calling President Obama a liar recently.

Of course not.
