Stand-up comic Greg Giraldo was hospitalized for an accidental overdose of prescription drugs Saturday night, the New York Post reports.

A Comedy Central regular and judge on ‘Last Comic Standing,’ Giraldo was found unresponsive during a party in his New Jersey hotel room after performing at the Stress Factory in New Brunswick, N.J.

The 44-year-old comic, initially in critical condition according to the Post’s source, was breathing on his own by Sunday.

In addition to his four nights at the club, the recovering alcoholic had been booked to appear Saturday afternoon at the New York Recovery Rally, billed as an event to ‘celebrate recovery from addiction.’ -- Christie D'Zurilla
