Future princess Kate Middleton is skipping down the road to her crown -- the newly engaged beloved of Prince William got a special pre-Christmas lunch with Queen Elizabeth.

In what’s being said was Middleton’s first bit of quality time with the matriarch and other royals in the family tree, the royal fiancée was ‘beaming’ at the event, held on Thursday.

‘It’s a momentous day for her,’ a royal expert told People. ‘She must have met more than 40 members of the royal family and that must have been an ordeal for her to meet so many family members.’

Middleton was shuttled with beefed-up security to Buckingham Palace, caravaning with William behind his father Prince Charles and Charles’ wife, Camilla Parker Bowles. William’s brother, Harry, was also at the luncheon, held annually before her royal highness bounces for the holidays.

Lunch down. Massive, global, history-making wedding to go.
