Charlie Sheen and rehab: It’s a Charlie Sheen news bender

Charlie Sheen is reportedly doing rehab at home -- the same home where he and a few porn actresses partied hard for 36 hours last week, setting events in motion that put him in the hospital with severe abdominal pain and the ‘Two and a Half Men’ cast and crew on hiatus for three months, possibly with severe wallet pain.
Seems that word from Sheen’s publicist that the ‘Two and a Half Men’ star had checked into rehab Friday wasn’t exactly the truth, even though there was a report that dad Martin Sheen had driven Charlie to Promises in Malibu that day. CBS and the younger Sheen worked together, according to TMZ, to bring the addiction experts home to him.
It’s said to be an effort to protect his privacy -- after details of estranged wife Brooke Mueller‘s admission to rehab were leaked last February, she too brought a team to the home off Mulholland Drive -- but some are questioning the arrangement.
‘Charlie isn’t rehabbing at home,’ said a RadarOnline source, who alleged Tuesday that family members were considering seeking a long-shot legal conservatorship. ‘That term just doesn’t exist. Charlie is calling the shots, he hasn’t surrendered to sobriety, and until that happens, this cycle won’t end.’
At least the LAPD won’t be investigating drug allegations against Hollywood’s highest-paid TV actor, L.A. Now said, as paramedics didn’t report any signs of illegal activity when they were called to Sheen’s home Thursday morning.
With two unaired episodes of the sitcom on tap and orders for additional installments of other shows to cover for at least eight ‘Men’ episodes that won’t be shot, CBS has expressed support for Sheen. However, not all of the 300 people employed by the show are happy right now, a source told E! Online on Tuesday.
‘A lot of us do not get paid, if we don’t work,’ the source said. ‘So, if he’s off getting rehabbed, or porn-o-ing, or whatever, we’re ... .’ TMZ said Monday that the studio had not decided if or how to compensate show staffers and crew while Charlie is unavailable. Who did get paid? At least one of the partying porn stars, who cashed a $30,000 check written Wednesday by Sheen, according to TMZ.
Fresh off months of rehab herself, Lindsay Lohan expressed concern for Sheen to friends over the weekend, TMZ reports. And she’s not the only one -- a rehab expert said Tuesday that portraying Sheen’s alcoholic, womanizing character could trigger a relapse for the actor if when he returns to the show.
‘It’s gotten to the point where it would be nice if the writers started to incorporate Charlie Harper’s recovery as part of the story line,’ Dr. Harris Stratyner told Fox411. ‘It’s a chance to show that he has a disease and is really working on his life.”
(We would note that the Charlie Harper character was invented in 2003. Sheen’s substance abuse and legal troubles were invented way before that, and Sheen, according to TMZ, wasn’t too stressed on his most recent ride home from a hospital.)
The fresh ‘Two and a Half Men’ episode schedule to air Monday is titled ‘Three Hookers and a Philly Cheese Steak’ -- which on its face, sadly, is way funnier than ‘Three Trips to Rehab and a Cedars-Sinai Hospital Room.’
