Nicolas Cage and Amber Heard hit the red carpet outside Hollywood’s ArcLight on Tuesday night to launch their new film, ‘Drive Angry,’ a wait-till-Daddy-gets-home tale of 3D-action proportions.

Cage’s Milton, you see, is back from the dead and mad as hell at the guy who killed his daughter and kidnapped her baby, with Heard coming along for the fun as a recently unemployed waitress who sees him as a sort of father figure.

Make that a father figure who drives a tricked-out 1969 Dodge Charger and does most of his own driving stunts.

‘It’s no secret I like to drive and drive fast,’ Cage said last summer at a Comic-Con 2010 panel discussion of the film, directed and co-written by Patrick Lussier.

Other cast members at the premiere included William Fichtner, Charlotte Ross and Billy Burke of ‘Twilight’ fame, cast in ‘Drive Angry’ as a bad dude instead of a good dad. Click the pics for more photos from the red carpet.

Heard, appropriately enough, showed up with her non-industry dad, David Heard. On Cage’s team? His 20-year-old son, Weston Cage, who wrote and performed the film’s title track and showed up with Nikki Williams on his arm.

‘Drive Angry’ opens Friday.
