Amy Winehouse, the raspy ‘Rehab’ singer,’ is checking back into rehab.
The British songstress checked into London’s Priory Clinic on Wednesday on ‘doctors’ advice,’ her spokesman Chris Goodman told the Associated Press.
Winehouse ‘wants to be ready for performances in Europe this summer and decided to seek an assessment,’ Goodman said.
The beehive-sporting singer, who last entered rehab in January 2008, will kick off a European concert series June 18. Her father, Mitch Winehouse, seemed to be the inspiration behind her re-enrollment, according to People.
‘Her dad sat her down and said, ‘I think you’re drinking too much again.’ So she agreed to ... an assessment to stop it becoming a bigger problem,’ a source told People
No word on what kind of treatment the 27-year-old would be seeking, but the facility offers treatment for various psychiatric problems and drug and alcohol addiction.
Before checking in at Priory, Winehouse reportedly stopped at a shop to buy a miniature bottle of Smirnoff vodka before downing the alcohol at the counter.
‘She seemed out of it. She was stumbling about, slurring her words,’ an observer told The Sun. ‘I was shocked to see her buy vodka so early in the day, and even more shocked to see her knock it straight back.’
The heavily tattooed and kohl-eyed singer topped charts with her album album ‘Back to Black,’ which earned her five Grammy Awards and launched her into the international spotlight. However, her struggles with alcohol, drugs and legal issues have out-shined her along the way.
Her single ‘Back to Black’ was performed on a recent episode of ‘Glee’ by Naya Rivera. Listen to it here.
